For students ages 12–18 | Innovate, Code, & Compete
Are you ready to take robotics to the next level? The Newburgh Creates FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Team gives middle and high school students the chance to design, build, and program custom robots, then compete against other teams in thrilling regional tournaments.
FTC combines advanced robotics, engineering, and coding with creativity, teamwork, and strategy — preparing students for real-world careers in STEM.
Membership & Fees
Team Membership: $250/month (includes 1 weekly session, 4 per month)
Drop-In Sessions: $50/session
Discounts: 10% sibling discount
Membership fees cover registration, parts, travel, and competition costs. Fundraising opportunities available.

FIRST Tech Challenge registration begins in May and ends with the FIRST Tech Challenge FIRST Championship in April. The competition season varies from region to region, but can start as early as October and run as long as April for teams that advance. The following chart details the different aspects of the season and when they happen:

Why Join FTC?
Who We’re Looking For
Students in grades 7–12 (ages 12–18)
No robotics experience required — just curiosity and commitment
Interests may include engineering, coding, CAD/3D design, marketing, public speaking, media production, or teamwork
Must be willing to collaborate, take feedback, and travel to competitions
What to Expect
Meetings: Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 PM. Additional open build times available.
Season: Runs September–April. Regular team practices, build sessions, and scrimmages.
Tournaments: Expect to attend 2–3 qualifying tournaments. Teams that advance compete at state/regional championships, with a chance to reach Worlds.
Commitment: Consistent attendance is required.
Travel: Students must be willing to travel to local and regional events.
